In the Grade 3 Competition Thea also impressed to take home a bronze medal in third place overall. Medals galore for our Academy gymnasts at Shropshire County Gymnastics Grades Championships14/2/2015
A huge huge thank you to everyone involved in the competition. Particular mentions must go to the wonderful judges giving up their time, superstar SHS Mum Julie Evans stepping in to man the music desk like a pro along with Sophie Jones, our runners Emily and Lauren, John Howard for lending us his sound system, Jason Tucker for helping set up the gym and to Amy Briscoe's family on the scoring desk. Jessica Elsey was today crowned overall West Midlands Gymnastics Champion at the 2014 Grade 10 regional championships at the GMAC. She took individual 1st on both beam and floor to clinch the title with 45.550. Fellow team mates Ellie Pugh, Bethan Evans, Dora Tomlinson, Lauren Morton, Thea Jones and Ellen Munro followed with strong performances to cap off a fantastic day of for the club. These pleasing results matched the success of our National Grade 8 (Tara Adams/Fiona Morfill), Grade 12 (Kati Hulme/Lucy Hart) and Grade 13 (Danni Jukes, Mae Blower/Emily Flack) girls from yesterday and last Sunday. Every single one of our gymnasts passed their grades easily - full results from 4 days of gymnastics competition are as follows: Stage 2 gymnast Chloe Speake placed above 50 other gymnasts to take overall third place and a bronze medal at this afternoon's West Midlands Gymnastics Grade 14 Out of Age. She also took 1st place on individual floor. Fellow Stage 2 gymnasts Ellana Foreman and Niah Williams also put in outstanding performances coming hot on Chloe's heels finishing in 5th and 6th position overall, both with well deserved distinctions. Niah impressed with her strength taking 4th on bars. Ellana's style and accuracy saw her ease through to 3rd on floor. In the In Age competition (8 yrs old only), Lucie Thouvenin and Ameli Jurca performed for the first time regionally against 70 other gymnasts placing 6th and 25th respectively. They impresssed both coaches and judges with such focus and drive at such a young age. Lucie took 2nd on vault and 4th on beam. We have had gymnasts competing at this level for the past 13 years and this year is no different! The girls are currently busy preparing for the four to five piece competitions which take place across March. We have girls representing our club in : Our competition gymnasts were lucky enough to have an exciting professional photoshoot with the Shropshire Sports Magazine after they offered to cover our medal success at the Shropshire County Gymnastics Championships.
